Frequently asked questions

The main wind season in Ceará runs from July to January, when the trade winds blow almost every day at around 16 to 28 knots. August to November is usually the windiest and most reliable period. From February to June the wind is lighter and less regular (roughly 8 to 16 knots) and it is the rainy season, but lessons can still happen on good days. If kitesurfing is the main goal of your trip, plan it between July and January.

Parajuru has a long, quiet beach with sandbanks that form shallow, flat-water lagoons at high tide, ideal for learning and freestyle, and small waves further out on the sandbar for more experienced riders. The water is warm all year (about 26 to 28 °C), so no wetsuit is needed. The wind is usually cross-shore in the morning, turns side-onshore in the afternoon and is often strongest in the late afternoon. The spot is uncrowded: you often share it with only a handful of kites.

Both are great, but they are different. Cumbuco is 35 km from Fortaleza and is the most famous kite town in Brazil: lots of schools, shops and nightlife, but a choppy sea and busy spots in high season, so beginners are often driven to nearby lagoons such as Cauípe. Parajuru is about 130 km southeast of Fortaleza, a small fishing village with shallow flat water right on the beach and very few kites around. For a first course, fewer people on the water means more space, less stress and more time riding. Choose Cumbuco if you want a lively town; choose Parajuru if you want calm, space and a private instructor.

Parajuru is in the municipality of Beberibe, about 125 to 130 km southeast of Fortaleza airport (FOR). By car the drive takes around 1h40 to 2 hours along the coastal road (CE-040). The easiest option is our private airport transfer, available on request: send us your flight details before you arrive and we will organise the pick-up. Renting a car at the airport is also a good option if you want to explore the coast.

It is possible to take lessons even without knowing how to swim well. Lessons take place in shallow, wave-free water, ideal for beginners. A life vest is mandatory throughout the entire lesson, ensuring extra safety and peace of mind. Your instructor is by your side at all times — an extra layer of safety for your progress.

On average it takes between 10 and 20 hours of lessons to become an independent kitesurfer. The time varies with individual ability and session frequency, but our structured programme is designed to accelerate your progress safely. We also offer a 2h30 trial session, just to discover whether kitesurf is for you.

Each session lasts 2h30, including a short briefing, equipment preparation, the kite session and a debriefing. Actual time varies with wind conditions and student progress — and you can take a water break whenever you want.

None. We teach complete beginners (discovery session and full course towards autonomy) as well as riders who want to progress: upwind riding, transitions, first jumps or riding in waves. Lessons are private and adapted to your level and to the wind of the day, with IKO-certified instructors.

Yes — kite, bar, harness, board, life vest (mandatory) and helmet (mandatory) are all included. Just bring your swimwear, sunglasses and sunscreen.

No wetsuit is needed: the water stays between 26 and 28 °C all year. Bring a lycra or UV top, sunglasses and reef-safe sunscreen. In high season most riders use a kite of around 7 to 9 m², and a bigger kite on lighter days. During lessons your instructor chooses the right size for your weight and the wind.

Safety is the absolute top priority. During your lessons your instructor will drill you on the most essential safety steps. First your safety, then your pleasure, and then your progression.

Kitesurfing requires no brute strength or elite athletic background. Because the pull of the kite is transferred to your core through a harness, finesse and motor skills matter far more.
