One of the lovely places to discover in Parajuru is Delícias da Kal, a small family-run restaurant bringing the flavours of Bahia to the coast of Ceará.
Karina, who runs the restaurant, learned to cook from her grandmother. Inspired by family recipes and childhood memories, she created a place to share the food she grew up with. Today, her family works alongside her, making Delícias da Kal a warm and personal place to discover Bahian cuisine.
What to eat at Delícias da Kal
There are a few dishes we particularly recommend trying.
- Acarajé: If you’re lucky enough to find it on the menu, don’t miss it! This iconic Bahian speciality is made from black-eyed pea dough, fried in dendê oil and traditionally filled with shrimp and other accompaniments.
- Amostradinho: A delicious local favourite that deserves a place on your food bucket list. Ask Karina about the version she prepares.
- Bahian farofa: And this one deserves a special mention. Honestly, I think it might be the best farofa in Brazil! A simple Brazilian staple, but with a flavour that makes it stand out.
More than just a meal
One of the best things about eating in Parajuru is getting to know the people behind the food. At Delícias da Kal, you have the chance to discover a little of Karina’s story, learn about her Bahian roots and support a family business built around a love of cooking.
It’s these personal encounters that make exploring the local food scene such a rewarding part of a stay in Ceará.
